Post Master Taken Aback

Birla is an OBC belonging to Kheukar village in Gondalamau block of Sitapur district. Her Husband Mulchand was a shepherd and had 12 sheep, but gave up the occupation because of falling margin and switched over to share cropping.

While working on field with her husband, one day Birala heard someone talking about women literacy programme in her village. She joined the education center, worked hard and after six months she was able to read and write.

One day she went to the post office at Korauna village to deposit some cash. When at post office she filled cash slip and handed over the same along with cash to the post master Ashok Trivedi, he was taken aback as earlier she used to request Trivedi to fill the cash slip.

Trivedi inquired from her and on knowing the story of her transformation, he congratulated her.
