Promotion of Improved Maternal and Newborn Care
A health programme with special emphasis on changing health behaviour towards mother and child care has been initiated in 15 villages of a development block of Hardoi district. This programme aims at behaviour change among communities for improved maternal and newborn health.
The interventions include home visit by women animators to counsel and advise pregnant women and their family members. The home visits remain structured and planned so that every pregnant and lactating mother gets counselling services on regular intervals. During the home visits they are informed on required nutritional intake, immunisation, prevention of common infections, identification of maternal and newborn danger signs, breast feeding, etc.
Programme focuses on making community aware on benefits of institutionalised deliveries and mobilising communities for accessing health services, immunisation and so on.
