Multi-strategic interventions to address livelihood
Shashwat works to promote environmental awareness and sustainable resource management among rural communities in central Uttar Pradesh. The organisation focuses on strengthening community understanding of soil, water and biodiversity conservation, recognising that environmental health is closely linked to rural livelihoods.
Through farmer meetings, school activities and village campaigns, Shashwat encourages practices such as organic farming, safe water use, vermi-composting and mixed cropping to reduce chemical dependence and restore soil fertility. Community volunteers and women’s groups play an active role in tree plantation drives, waste management initiatives and awareness sessions on climate-related risks.
Shashwat also supports farmers in adopting environment-friendly methods that improve productivity while protecting natural resources. Efforts are made to revive traditional water sources and promote efficient irrigation practices. By involving local institutions and youth, the organisation helps villages build a shared responsibility towards their surroundings.
Shashwat’s approach ensures that environmental protection becomes part of everyday life, contributing to healthier communities and resilient ecosystems.
